José Luis Chiriz Buch – National Scholarship Program Case Study

How did you get selected for the GVI National Scholarship Program?
I was part of the scholarship program on the Phoenix project, whereby every child in the Pajaro de Fuego school, received scholarships for further education. I wanted to be a teacher, so they paid for much of my study costs
Did the National Scholarship Program offer you opportunities for personal and career development?
Absolutely, I always wanted to be a teacher, so to be able to study for this has allowed me now to be a school director in a rural school here in Guatemala. My first language is Kakchiquel so I can add more value to my teaching in these areas
What are your future career plans?
Carry on teaching and imparting my knowledge through teaching the next generation of teachers
